General

Due to it's height, Verbier has a relatively short sumer. In fact I was there this year on July 10 or so and the place was just about a ghost town. Things don't really get srated before the 15th of July, and they slow down about mid September. Howevere that is not to say the place is closed. There's limited skiing on the glacier at Mont Fort (check the dates) as well as cycling, climbing, paragliding and the rest of that sort of active stuff. The golf course opens much earlier than July 15 and closes much later than Sept. 15th. Check with one of the hotels here to get the exact dates.

If you've ever skied in Verbier you've probably been on the golf course. Unwittingly you may have launched yourself with a "daffy" off the edge of the 3rd Green. Or perhaps, after some short swings,

paused for a breath or two on the 10th tee to take in the breath-taking views of the surrounding alps. Yes, the golf course in Verbier is literally under the soles of your skis.
The golf course was carved out of the ski piste in a series of terrasses. The result is a spectacular

18-hole golf course with an exciting panorama over the mountain ranges of the Combin, Rogneux and the mighty Mont-Blanc. If you like open views, this is the course for you, not only can you see sideways and up, you can also see down. The sometimes adventurous Par 3's have tees which offer a bird's eyes view of the green where the ball get's higher above the ground than it travels horizontally. The course which is open from May till November starts at 1600 m above sea level and drops down the mountain till one ends up at the club house some 200 m below.
